"Vino Vertas" is a Latin phrase which means "In Wine lies the truth".

And the truth is that wine tours and tasting is an experience unlike any other. It allows you to slow down, fill your senses with taste, smell the wine, see the vineyard, chat with fellow wine lovers and just devour it all.

We'd been waiting for an excuse to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Surprisingly, we didn't have to go too far. After a one and half hour drive , we were bang in the middle of huge trees -The way we remember our good old Bengaluru. There were hills, there was wind, and there was calm. A walk in the grape fields under the bright blue skies of rural Bengaluru was just what we needed to reboot after months of being stuck in our work routine. Our visit to Grover Zampa Vineyard was just that!

Grover Zampa Vineyard is situated 40 kms North East of Bangalore. It is spread over 300 acres on the foothills of Nandi Hills.

We started off our tour at the Grape Receival Area, where we learnt about the processing, fermentation, filtering, storage, bottling, labeling, and packaging of wine bottles which are ready for sale. The effort and attention to detail that goes into each process is commendable. The photography was restricted in this area so we simply soaked it all and enjoyed the tour.

We next stepped into the Barrel room. The imported wines are stored in lovely oak barrels here. We were introduced to the different premium brands such as Insignia, Chene, Auriga, Vijay Amritraj, Soiree, La Reserve, Zampa, Oth, and Sante. The sparkling wine with a dusting of gold - Auriga wine stood out for us. We were in awe of its golden straw hue and it's definitely on our bucket list now for our next celebration :)

Later, a very enthusiastic group gathered around a long oak table for the most awaited session - Wine tasting. A delicious cheese platter with crackers accompanied the chill wine. We tried out five wines, which included White, Red, Rose, and Sparkling Wine. Wine tasting seemed more of an art, and when we tried it keeping the 5 S’s in mind, it was actually quite fun. We evaluated each glass of Wine with the 5 S’s - See, Swirl, Sniff, Sip, and ofcourse Savour.

The tour ended with a fun grape-stomping session. We were hesitant to step in at first, but one step into the basket of grapes instantly removed our doubts. Such a soothing experience!

Grover has recently re-launched with a brand new look, refurbished interiors and curated activities. They've also launched three new wine labels and we cannot wait to try them soon!

Thank you for having us over Grover Zampa.
